Monorail Track Lighting

How do I remove a halogen track light bulb with a suction cup device?

I have a small track lighting fixture with halogen bulbs. The bulbs came with a small suction cup device but I cannot figure out how to get the bulb out of there. Help!

  1. If you can reach the fixture with a chair or ladder, you can simply remove the black ring from the inner lip and then easily remove the bulb.

If not, just wet the suction cup and stick it on the bulb and unscrew it.

  2. Moist of the halogen bulbs in track lights do not screw in. THey have two pins and push straight into the socket. Try wetting the suction cup and then pull straight out to remove the bulb.

Those bulbs have a typical life of about 2000-3000 hours. If you do the math you will see that means they burn out every year or so. You will get a lot of practice pulling them out and pushing them in.
