How dangerous is the cable of cable lighting? I have moved into a new rented house. My six-year-old daughter's bedroom has cable lighting (halogen lights strung between two parallel cables). From her bunk bed (pine), she could touch the cables if she were to kneel up. How dangerous is this? If it is dangerous, is there a way to disable them without taking the whole thing down (we'll have to put it back the way it is now when we leave). Or should we just get rid of the bunk bed?
Problem with Motorola DCT2500 cable box, all the lights are on!? Hello, I have a Motorola DCT2500 Cable Box and when I came home, I discovered that pretty much all the lights are on for it (Power/Messages/On) and the LED where the numbers show up are on, but they are pretty dim. I've tried unplugging it for a while, but the lights come right back on. Is the box dead, or was it electrocuted at some point? Any answers would be great, thanks!
flourescent lights and cable reception? We just replaced older can lights in our basement with flourescent bulb troffer lights. The wiring was all there before. Now when we flip those new basement lights on, the cable reception upstairs gets fuzzy. The second the lights are switched off...perfect again. What makes it stranger is that it is only for the 1st 8 channels out of 100 which are our more local channels.
120volt AC/DC transformer and a dimmer switch. Trying to run low voltage DC cable lights.? I have these cable lights, similar to track lights but the cable lights are low voltage DC. I bought a 120 volt AC/DC 2.5-25Amp 500watt transformer to power them. I wanted to connect the transformer to a rheostat so I could dim the lights. The rheostat or dimmer switch is connected to the AC side. I have tried multiple types of switches, rheostat and regular. The circuit breaker trips every time I try to turn on the light switch. My guess is that the transformer is drawing too much amperage? 12/2 wire is being used on a 20 amp dedicated circuit and the transfomer has a minimum of 2.5 amps and maximum of 25 amps. I went with the larger transformer because of distances between the two light sets coupled with the distance from the DC power supply. Is it possible to connect the dimmer switch to the DC side? Should the switch have been connected to the DC side in the first place? Are there any other options? I have these cable lights, similar to track lights but the cable lights are low voltage DC. I went with the larger transformer because of distances between the two light sets and the DC power supply. The total combined draw for the two light sets is 300 watts and the maximum output for the transformer on the DC side is 500 watts. So I know that I am not over loading the transformer. What else could be the problem?
What type/size of electrical cable do I need for lights/sockets (uk)? I have existing electical wiring in my garage and need to move some sockets/lightswitches. The builder asked me to get some electrical cabling but never specified what and there is loads to chose from. There was no electrician at the B&Q I went to to help! Can anyone give me some pointers?
Cable Modem Lights??????????? I just got a cable modem (used to have dial up) and there are 4 lights. 2 just glow and 2 blink but the 2 that blink blink even when the computer is off. Is this normal? The ones that blink are 'cable activity' and 'PC link' - Are they supposed to be blinking even when the computer is off? Oh and no, there is no router that works w/ this modem. It's just one modem attached to the back of one computer and the 2 lights still blink even when the comp is shut off.
flashing lights on my router and cable modem? Can any one help me under stand this. what do these lights mean? on my" wireless router" i have a steady green power lite, A flashing green status lite, an eratic green L.A.N. lite and a eratic blinking greenW.L.A.N light. there is an always flashing activity light on my "cable modem." as well. What light if any, may indicate un authorised use of our systems, after PC use in the house has stoped for the evening? we have two computers, but both are connected to either net cables.
Buzz and hum on 12v low voltage cable light transformer? Over the weekend I have installed a LV cable light system from light waves concepts. The quality of the fixtures and the overall kit is great and we're really happy with the look of the lights. The problem is, kit came with a 300 watt magnetic transformer that included a debuzzing coil but even with a 600VA LV magnetic dimmer, the transformer is still quite loud with a hum and buzz. I have tried leviton and cooper magnetic LV dimmers and I have even removed the debuzzing coil from the transformer and relocated it to a covered and hidden Jbox because the coil makes some noise too. That helped a little but the transformer itself is still loud when dimmed and silent when at full power. I'm thinking that I may have to get a remote transformer and hide it in the basement or something to keep the sound away from the living room but before I go to such lengths, does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
The cable light blinks on my Cable Modem? At first it wasn't letting me on the internet, now it does let me on the internet with the light blinking? The power light is solid the online light is solid and the cable light blinks off and on very slowly, the ethernet light just flickers. I am also using a router, but I dont think this is a problem with my router.
Why do lights turn on and off during an earthquake? Is there some kind of electro magnetic force that is absorbed by the electric cables/ light bulb filaments that causes the lights to turn on and off? Or does the shaking cause light switches to turn on/off? (But if the switches are physically turned on/ off then why don't some lights stay turned on when the earthquake is over?) Oh, I meant actually flickering on/off about twice a second during the earthquake. Not turning off and then turning on again after the earthquake. It was about a 4.0. I had all my lights turned off. And when I checked after the earth quake, all the switches were still in the off position. So I'm sure nothing had hit the switch to make it physically turn on.
XLR Cable for Lights: Is Metal outside Needed for Grounding? I dropped the end of an xlr cable and the plastic insert fell out and also the metal outside pushed back partly, making the 3 pins stick out. There is a small hole in the metal piece that appears as if it is supposed to be linedup. I am afraid that with the misalignment, that something is either not grounded or not connected correctly. This is XLR for a light board but I am assuming they are similar for audio signals and light control. I have been trying to get my board working and I am wondering if this cable is the problem.
