How dangerous is the cable of cable lighting? I have moved into a new rented house. My six-year-old daughter's bedroom has cable lighting (halogen lights strung between two parallel cables). From her bunk bed (pine), she could touch the cables if she were to kneel up. How dangerous is this? If it is dangerous, is there a way to disable them without taking the whole thing down (we'll have to put it back the way it is now when we leave). Or should we just get rid of the bunk bed?
Locating damage to lighting power cable? What is the best tool or method in your opinion to locate cable damage causing current leak on several cables supplying outdoor lighting as detected by a tripping GFCI breaker. (Or water in a light obviously). Is there a meter that can measure that directly with the power off?

I need a 30' track lighting / cable track solution for kind of cheap? I'm moving into a great loft so I'm broke. But it has this awesome 30' brick wall and I am mounting my artwork via a cool ceiling mount hanging system. The only problem - I need a LONG track light to illuminate this project. But this place is very expensive so I need something VERY affordable. I'd like a low-volt dual cable system with 9 basic spot lights over 30' of cable, mounted straight from wall to wall, maybe 4 or 5 inches from the ceiling. I figure each light could be 30-50 watts and I was thinking halogen. I would also want to purchase a dimmer switch that could adjust this bad boy. I'd be retrofitting a standard ceiling mounted light to house the transformer. I have no idea where to start here - I don't (can't) pay a ton for this. But it will really finish my new pad if I can pull this off for under $500. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! :)

Im using a cisco 2100 cable modem, but every now and then, the cable light goes off and so does my internet, it blinks for hours, then comes back on. can fiber optic light cable be used outside? Lets say I wanted to make a garden statue out of concrete and put end glow fiber optic cable in it to light up eyes or widows and such. Would the fiber optic cable be ok exposed to direct sunlight? Plastic fiber not glass fiber.
Cable modem lights aren't lighting up (some not all)? Ok so we just had a very terrible storm last night, I had to go to the ER, when we got back our internet was not working. We checked the modem, and the power light, and the Internet were solid, the receiving light would sometimes flash, like maybe once a minute. Could someone explain it to me as to what's going on
Buzz and hum on 12v low voltage cable light transformer? Over the weekend I have installed a LV cable light system from light waves concepts. The quality of the fixtures and the overall kit is great and we're really happy with the look of the lights. The problem is, kit came with a 300 watt magnetic transformer that included a debuzzing coil but even with a 600VA LV magnetic dimmer, the transformer is still quite loud with a hum and buzz. I have tried leviton and cooper magnetic LV dimmers and I have even removed the debuzzing coil from the transformer and relocated it to a covered and hidden Jbox because the coil makes some noise too. That helped a little but the transformer itself is still loud when dimmed and silent when at full power. I'm thinking that I may have to get a remote transformer and hide it in the basement or something to keep the sound away from the living room but before I go to such lengths, does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
Will a random cable modem work without the software cds? I have a cable modem I picked up used at a store. I took it home and plugged it (it turned on), and then tried plugging in a cable wire into the back. The data light, and cable light flashed , seemed to be fine, but I already have another modem in the house, so I wasnt able to really tell if it would work.
What's the product name for a bunch of light bulbs on a cable? I'm looking to buy a "lamp" consiting of 10 or so light bulbs connected to a cable of about 9 feet, which can be hung from the branches of trees, from the ceiling, etc. I've seen these in certain cafes, and typically French/European restaurants have these outdoors in the summer in all kinds of colors. What is this type of "lamp" is called? And in what kind of store can I find these? String lights is correct, altough I cannot choose the correct answer. Thanks!
My router says the ethernet cable isnt plugged in? Ill be using the computer sometimes and then itll say a network cable is unplugged. I check the router and the ethernet cable light is not on. Could the ethernet not be working? or how can i fix it? ty for your help
How long do you make the cable? You want to build a grandfather clock with a pendulum (a weight on the end of a light cable) that has one second between its "tick" (swinging to) and its "tock" (swinging fro).
