Monorail Track Lighting

Wire Lighting Knowledge Base

Can I wire existing track lighting to plug into an outlet? I want to install a commercial dimmer which has Edison outlets and is designed for par lights. The current track lights are hard-wired into junction boxes which run back to the breaker box. Can I rewire the Romex to a new junction box and wire-nut each wire to a heavy-duty stranded cord terminated with an Edison plug so that I can connect the lights to the dimmer?
how would i wire lighting in my car? you know how most neon/LED lights for your car, run through the cigarette lighter??? i want to piss the cigarette lighter off and run the lights straight off a ground mount and a power cable (for example) how would i go about that?

How to wire a four way lighting circuit? Three switches to turn on ceiling lights.
Uncoated earth wire for lighting? I just bought a 50m roll of 1mm squared twin core cable with an uncoated earth for wiring some lighting. Is it safe to use an uncoated earth say in a junction box which can be a bit of a mess. What if the earth wire accidentally makes contact with one of the 240v live connectors? Should I wrap it with some insulating tape?
What causes gradual lighting up of street illumination on long streets? When they light up street illumination in cities like New York, it seems to be progressive and not all the lights are on at the same time. It seems like a "flow of power" turning them on gradually as it progresses through the wires. But I am quite convinced that it is just for effect or rather to protect the power network and not because electric current works like that. I think that physicaly when you connect power supply to a wire all the lights connected to that wire light up at the same time no matter how long the wire is. Is there any related material online describing this problematics of lighting up big cities?
