BiOrb Aquarium: Use Intelligent LED Lighting System in a Planted Tank? I've been thinking about getting the intelligent LED lights for my BiOrb aquarium... my tank is heavily planted and is doing well with the halogen light it is currently running with. If I replace it with the LED lighting system, will my plants continue to photosynthesize energy? If not, how can I keep my plants healthy without a light source that enable photosynthesis? (I am asking because I am not sure if the lighting system enables photosynthesis or not)
Marineland Double Bright LED lighting system? im setting up a 55gal soon and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this product. from what i have read i don't think that Marinelands 36-48" LED lamp will be very attractive on a 55 considering it is only 36" long and the tank is 48", that would leave 6" unlit on each end of the tank. lame right? would two 24" glass hoods and two 18-24" Marineland double bright LED systems work better? or two 24-36"? i know it will cost considerably more to buy two light fixtures to accommodate that foot of darkness but i really like the LED idea. its a money saver in the long run.
Does LED lighting work for artificial plant light? I am growing some herbal plants that require a delicate balance of lights and nutrients. Unfortunately it's not always sunny where I from, so I grow indoors. I setup a LED blue/red 255 tiny light system 12x12 inch over the small flat of rosemary/chives...etc. How close should it be and will it be effective? I want first hand experience.
can a led lighting system that produces 1400 lux grow corals? its a 14 watt led panel 12 by 12 inches i want to use it to grow coral in a ten gallon it has 112 blue 450 nm leds and 113 white leds together they produce 1401 lux is it bright enough for coral. the light is a multi use panel either for growing plants indoor or for fish tanks
LED Fish Tank Lighting System? I am looking to buy a good LED lighting system for my 20 gallon long reef tank that is very good for the money. It needs to be bright enough to support the tank and all my corals. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. You could check out my current tank here. http://www.youtube.com/user/Bakerfish1717/videos
How do I figure out the right ac/dc power supply for a modular led lighting system? First let me say I am very new to electronics, so please forgive my ignorance. I am trying to make a modular LED lighting system for my bookcase. It involves plugging in X number of led 'pods' into a box, hopefully powered by a ac/dc power supply. And I want to be able to plug in more 'pods' in the future as necessary. The pods would be in a parallel array, and each pod would have 1 high-brightness led (around 3.5 forward voltage @ 20 mA). I know each led would need to be in series with a resistor of whatever size depending my input voltage. What I am having a problem with is understanding how ac/dc power supplies work. As I understand it, they supply a given voltage (say 5vdc) if the load uses a certain current (say 600 mA). But if I add or remove some pods it would change the amount of current used by the device, and in turn raise or lower the voltage supplied by the power supply? And if I removed some pods, and it did raise the voltage, would that blow out my LEDs?
Good, cheap LED (lighting) system for motorcycles? Where can I buy a set of these? Or, what's the best option LED lights? I don't really want my entire bike to glow like some of these I've seen - just enough to give it a nice accent. And to make me more visible in the dark.
LED Lighting with a 350A battery? ok im "trying" lol to build a LED lighting system for my house main power being a 12v 350A battery each Bulb is 12 LEDs @ 2.5v 30mAh for each LED now iv tested the bulbs and they r plenty bright my main problem is how to get the 350A down to the 30mAh range so i don't blow LEDs i think resisters are out that is inefficient as hell and will get REALLY hot and im not sure if they make an IC that can handel the 350A and if they do i would more than likely half to step it down several times and each time i lose 10% efficiency can anyone help? it will be connected to a charge Controller and that will be connected to a solar Panel array and i plan on using this battery http://www.pmspower.com/product-details.asp?cat=C%26D+Technologies&ID=8&pID=11&p=12V%2C+350AH+UPS+Battery it needs to be able to power the lights for quite along time i am NOT using the battery as an UPS and the leds are "12 LEDs in parallel supplied by 2.5V, 360mA " there will be 8 Bulbs (1 bulb = 12 LEDs in parallel supplied by 2.5V, 360mA) and the hole point of this is to get the lights off of the 120vAC and supplied by the solar panels by the way i am completely open to ideas and i haven't purchased and of the parts yet so its all interchangeable
Low cost reptile lighting/LED lighting? I was thinking of using some LED lights to light my reptile cages but everything i found is super expensive. Is there a LED light system where that i can make or purchase that won't cost a fortune? I don't need much light, especially with super bright LED's. They will be shining through a metal mesh top. As stated before, the LED's are ONLY for lighting the cage. I have no snakes that need UVB and if they do i supply it in ballast bulbs, compact florescent, or regular florescent lights. Heat will be supplied by a UTH (flex watt) which i wire to a dimmer switch and have an emergency on/off thermostat if it gets too hot. This is more for the side of the cage that doesn't have the florescent over top or doesn't have florescent at all. They would be going into a vision cage model 211.
How is this lighting remote ran? We had a new bar installed and the contractor put in a led lighting system under the counter. We've asked him several times for an instruction book on controlling the lights but have not gotten anything back. We can turn the lights on and change them but would like to be able to do some cool things with them. Trying to find an instruction book online or any information regarding the system. Picture of remote is at http://smu.gs/wECkQV
how to build a 4 LED light system for a 1/48 scale plastic model aircraft? i would like to put together a 4 LED light sys of two green a white and a red for a plastic model aircraft, powered by a few AA batteries with a switch to turn them on and off, with the red,one green and the white all flashing together with the remaining green light steady (for cockpit lighting) i just dont know how to wire it. please help!!
which is better for a 55 gallon reef tank lighting system? im starting a reef tank this summer and im just looking at my options so im aiming for medium lighting in the tank so im just wondering if i should get a aqueon dual lamp T5 light fixture across the entire tank and directly on top. or should i get a marineland single bright LED lighting system 4in above the top of tank but goes all the way across so im just wondering which would be better for a 55 gallon reef tank
Has Anyone Ever Used LED Lighting For Growing Indoors? Has Anyone Ever Used The GlowPanel 45 By Sunshine Systems? I just got one for my indoor garden. I put it inside a 4x4x6 room with aluminum foil covering all the walls, the floor & the ceiling to reflect as much of the light as possible. Putting 4 plants inside. Has anyone ever used this LED setup before? If so, what were your results? Should I invest in a bigger one or just stick to HPS & Metal Halide lighting? Thanks
Sunshine Systems 45 Watt LED Grow Light do they work 4 plants? 1st I am a medical marijuana patient nd I'm starting 2 grow nd have a light problem I want 2 save on my bills nd grow great stuff does any1 kno or u used this light Before or anything I've heard other good things But I really need 2 kno more nd will it grow more then 1 plant at a time
LED light system using arduino? I'm looking to make a lighting system for my room that uses an Arduino controller along with these cool ShiftBrite RGB LEDs. The ShiftBrites are easily chained together and pass information along to the next, so you can control each LED in the chain separately. http://macetech.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=5 I'm not that experienced with electronics, so I have a few questions about how to do this. First of all, what is the best way to power about 20 of these chained together into a strand (or possibly 2 strands)? I'm guessing the Arduino itself can't handle this, so what kind of power supply could I use, and how would it be used to power the LEDs? Also, I want this to be able to respond to music (different lights for different frequencies), which could be accomplished with a frequency filter chip sold on SparkFun. However, I also want to be able to control the lights individually from my computer so I can use it as a lighting system not necessarily controlled by audio. Is there software that would allow me to process/analyze music while interfacing with the Arduino to control the lights? Or would it be best to use the frequency filter chip for audio and separately use software for the individual parts? Any help with any of these questions would be helpful!

I want to know about intelligent street light systems...? Does any one have any examples, papers, case studies etc that you can share about intelligent street light systems? For example such system should be able to detect faults and alert the engineers automatically. LED systems are most welcome.
Auxiliary lighting law - LED red strobes? What is the law concerning after-market auxiliary lighting systems on vehicles in the UK? Having been told that my motorcycle appeared almost invisible from the rear when driving in fog and moderate spray, I have bought a pair of red LED ultrabright strobe strips (4.5 x 1 cm each). They flash in a similar way to the rear spray lights on F1 cars. I want to fit these either side of the rear light housing with an activation switch on the bars for driving in very poor visibility. Is this legal? Is it possible that I will get a fine for displaying such strobing lights? Thanks
