LED outdoor light, keep bugs away ? so my porch light right now is a CFL, its enclosed in one of those glass globe things, but it attracts a lot of bugs at night. if i replace it with an LED light (as those yellow bug spotlights will just be too dim to keep the front of my house lighted properly at night) do the LED ones keep bugs away ?
Can anyone help answer an outdoor lighting question? I cannot find anyone to answer this question if you cannot help? Maybe direct me to someone that can? I want to take a 1 amber colored outdoor use fairy bulb connect it to my existing low voltage lighting. In other words take 1 outdoor use low voltage wire connect one time outdoor bulb (fairy led bulb) connect it to one end connect the other end to the low voltage wire. Can anyone help on this one? Have been looking for weeks on how to do this. thank you
pc power supply to power 12 volt outdoor led lights? I have a parts pc that I'm not using. I recently was given some low voltage outdoor l.e.d. lights. From what i've read the lights need a transformer to power them. With these lights being l.e.d.s, the wattage of the bulbs is only 0.375 each x 8 lights for a total wattage requirement of 3 watts. They are also 12 volt. The power supply in the old pc says 12 volt @13 amps. Will this work? or will the amperage be too much? The wiring will be roughly 50 feet long and 14-16 gauge strand copper.
Outdoor LED lights for tree that run on a battery pack???? Do these exist? I don't have a power source even remotely near the 2 small trees that i'd like to light up this summer with twinkle lights. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as lights for tree that don't run off electricity? I have a very small itty bitty string of LEDs for an indoor fig tree that contains a small power pack attached to it (no need to plug in), but for the life of me i can't find anything like that on a grander scale for my trees outside. Anyone with any info, i thank you in advance!!!
Which of these bulbs would be a better option for my outdoor lighting project? I'm replacing the outdoor steps that lead to the front door of my house. There are eight steps, and I plan to place a recessed, wall-mount light above every other riser so that each light illuminates two steps. All four lights will be on the same side of the steps. The step treads will be 40" wide. These steps receive low traffic so they don't have to be overpoweringly bright, but of course, I don't want people stumbling because of poor lighting. I have two bulb options, and would like some opinion on which is the better fit for this project: * a 1.5-watt LED light that, according to the dealer, is equivalent to the light from a 20- to 25-watt halogen bulb. * a 4-watt LED light that, according to the dealer, is equivalent to to the light from a 35- to 40-watt halogen bulb.
Outdoor Christmas LED lights changing colours? hi! i have christmas lights that change from green to red but mostly all the time we switch them on, one side turns green and the other red. I asked my older "technology geek" cousin how we can prevent this from happening and he said to switch on the lights, turn them off right away, count for 10 sec. then switch them back on. it worked to make all the lights stay in sync the first time but didn't work the next few times. is there a way to make all the lights stay the same colour when they change?
I had heard about a LED light that is snapped into a hole drilled into chain link metal post? I have a Chain link fence. I had spoken to an outdoor lighting guy at a trade show. He was telling me about a small light that can mount to a post of a chain link fence. You drilled a hole at the bottom and one at the top. The wire was fished from the top and the light snapped into the hole you had drilled. The wire coming out the bottom is then connected to the transformer. Thanks for your help
Do outdoor LED candles work in extreme weather? I'm particularly curious about the flameless resin candles at Restoration Hardware. I'd like to put some inside of lanterns to light a pathway in front of my house, but wonder if the mechanics and batteries in them can withstand extreme cold and heat. The Web site says they're weatherproof and have a 1000 hour battery life, but nothing more than that. ...Will the batteries freeze? I live in Ohio.
What is the best way to add lights to our pergola? I bought several boxes of the outdoor LED lights with the brown cords to blend into the pergola. Only problem is I am not sure the best way to put them up. We could drape them across but it looks kind of sloppy to me. Any suggestions??
Malibu 200 watt Power Pack and LED Lights? I have a Malibu 200watt Power Pack for an outdoor lighting system.. It says max wattage is 200 watts for all lights... if each light is 20watts.. I can use a max of 10 lights @ 20 watts = 200 watts.. Can I convert these to LED lights (M16 and M11 bulb size) that use 3 watts... does that mean I can hook up 65 lights on the power pack??? I also want the brightest LED available for the M11 and M16 size 2 prong bulbs.. any ideas? PLEASE ADVISE!! THANK YOU.
Possible to repair LED christmas lights? I have a 60ft string of outdoor LED christmas lights. They were OK to start with, but now some lights don't work properly. E.g. there are 10 good lights, then 10 dim ones, then 10 dark ones, then 10 good ones etc. They run off 110V without a converter - I think they are in series-parallel. There are 2 wires to the plug, then 3 most of the way down the string, and 2 to a socket at the end to chain to another string. The LEDs appear to be glued in. I wondered if it was possible to repair them. A traditional incandescent outdoor string would all work except broken bulbs, which could be replaced.
do led lights have that blue glow? we are putting in outdoor lighting and want to make sure I dont get the lights bulbs that have a blue cast. I want the bulbs to match the front door light
How to string paper lanterns in a tent for outdoor wedding>? Hi, My wedding is in August and I have a 40 x 60 tent, my Aunt rented bulb lights for the tent... however, I would rather use a ton of chinese lanterns. Does anyone have any ideas for stringing them? Why are they just starting to use LED's in everything? LEDs have been around for a long time. The have always been inexpensive and never used a lot of energy to run. Why did it take this long for them to start using them in all these applications they are using them in now? Flashlights, outdoor lighting, christmas lighting, etc.... You use to only see them as like lights for your computers HD being read or other simple lighting situations on electronics.
Are LED christmas lights more reliable than the traditional ones? I spent an hour or two fighting with strands of outdoor christmas lights yesterday, trying to find strands that worked, wiggling bulbs to coax the dark ones back to life, etc. I'm about ready to pitch the box full and replace them. I see the LED light strings on the store shelves, but they still have the lights that can be removed, like the traditional strings. I know LEDs are more efficient and use less power, but the design is otherwise very similar to the old ones. Are there LED light strings out there that are designed for outdoor use and that will last a long time without half a string going dark at random? If you've had good luck with them, and you've got a brand name, pass it along!
What size generator do I need to dj an outdoor gig ? I need to Power 2 ev elx115p tops and a elx118p powered sub, as well as a couple of dj lights,(led) a fog machine , and a laptop.The speakers total a 2700 watt rating.The lights laptop and controller the pioneer ddj-ergo I imagine won't take much power. I would like to do around a 2-3 hour set. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
what's the best quality outdoor xmas lights I can buy? I am tired of every other year having to buy new outdoor lights for xmas its getting expensive. Last time (xmas '09) I thought I had it when I bought all new GE LED icicle lights for the house. I always take secial care (never staple, always use plastic clips, always stored in original boxes in climate controlled dry storage through the year. Pulled them out this year and only 3 out of the 20-30 strands actually work :-/. What lights do you run and what are your impressions? Durability and longevity? Thanks
photographing led lights? Which is better, photographing led lights, or the traditional lights. For indoor and outdoor on an Christmas tree. I will be using digital.
With four 12-volt/1.5-watt outdoor fixtures: would a 120w transformer use less electricity than a 300w one? I'm adding lighting to my outdoor steps. For the time being, I'm going to use LED lighting that is 12v/1.5watt each, but in the future I might add some landscape lighting. Does the wattage of the transformer impact the amount of electricity used? That is, if I run these four lights off of a 300 watt transformer, would it use more electricity than if I ran them off of a 120 watt one? I ask not only because I eventually might add to the transformer's workload, but also because the price difference between the transformers is only $10 and the $300 has better reviews. Thanks for the info. I suspected as much, but wanted confirmation. As for the LED bulbs, the webpage (https://www.socallighting.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SRS-502LED) that I'd be ordering the lights from doesn't specify if they have a rectifier, but I thought boyonet sockets had them built in. Anyone know if that's the case?
