Under Cabinet Led Lighting Knowledge Base
LED puck style under cabinet lighting? Does anyone know if they make puck style LED under cabinet lights? And if they do make these, where can i get them? Website? I'm not looking for halogen lights, or battery operated LED lights. I want to hard wire these to a light switch. Can LED's be dimmed? Is there such thing as a 3-way dimmable switch? So I can dim the lights from either switch at opposite ends of the kitchen. Thanks for the help!
How to connect under cabinet lighting to the main kitchen light/switch? I have got LED undercabinet lights i would like to connect to my main light circuit in my kitchen. I would like it so when the main kitchen light is turned on the LED cabinet lights also come on. I know I have to run 1.5mm cable behind the cabinets up to the ceiling under the floorboards above the kitchen, however I cannot find a wiring diagram of how these cables connect at this point??
Least expensive roll of LED tape lighting? I need about 30 feet of warm white under cabinet LED lighting. I've found that the 5meter rolls of 'tape' lighting (LED bulbs about 3/4 inch apart) are probably the best solution. They are dimmable and 'warm'... but still good work lighting. Where can I find an online source that would have the best price?
Replacing under cabinet lighting? Our house came prewired for undercabinet lighting and has the super hot halogen lights. I am trying to switch them to LED, All the stores carry are plug-in type, not hardwire. The guy told me just to cut off the plug and wire them. I did, and it worked, however now I have no where to place the ground wire that comes out of the cabinet. Is it ok to leave these ungrounded?
Halogen under counter lights overheating ? I have halogen under cabinet lights that go out after burning about ten minutes. I assume the transformer is overheating. Would changing to lED lights stop this problem? Can I use the existing wiring and transformer and just replace the fixture?
are LED lights worth the cost in a kitchen remodel? Getting an entire kitchen remodel and can't decide if the cost of the LED's vs traditional lighting with CFL's is the best way to go. Some will be LED's (under cabinet puck lights are now available at Lowe's for $29.99 in a 3 pack) but the others I am not sure of. I have heard the LED lights are very directional (the lights in question would be in the ceiling, used as the main room lighting and a 3 light fixture over the sink). It would cost approx $165 more to use LED on 3 ceiling recessed lights (I can only use recessed as they are in front of cabinet doors) and to switch the halogen fixture to LED bulbs. I know I do not want any halogen due to the heat it produces (and I live in Florida :-) The cost difference is a consideration, but the directional light issue, amount of light I'd get and the quality of light is the biggest consideration. thanks for any help and experience you can share!
Wiring three outlets controled by one switch.? I have a switch that controls a light over my sink. I want to install some under cabinet LED lights (which are plug-in) and have them controled by this switch. I have taken out the existing light, I've installed a 3-gang box, and now I need help with the wiring. There is a black, white, and ground wire coming into the box, I understand how to wire up one outlet, but how do I wire all three outlets?
Kitchen paint color? I am in the process of renovating my kitchen and need some advice. I've already purchased the cabinets in this picture: http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w100/rraeyn/cabinets.jpg but there's a dark grey-brown grain that runs through them you can't see in the photo. My dilemma is this: I adore the cabinets, but I hate "country" and I'm having a hard time coming up with a granite counter/tile floor/wall color combo that will make them look more modern. I don't want white walls. Any ideas? My appliances are stainless and black. The kitchen is not terribly large and the only window faces a brick wall a few feet away, so there will be little natural light. I have pot lights in the ceiling, one main center light, and under-cabinet LED lighting. Also, I am limited in my granite choices to the cheapest ones, so I'm leaning towards something black(ish) with flecks of green or maybe brown. Just to clarify, the photo I posted above is not of MY kitchen. It's a picture I got from the website of the cabinet manufacturer, just to show the type and (approximate) color of the cabinets. My kitchen currently doesn't even have walls, so I'll be starting with bare drywall.
Can i use a dremel tool to cut wood? Hello, I'm installing led lighting under my cabinets and I went to install the lights but there are parts under the cabinets that will prevent the led lights from laying flush against the bottom. I would have to cut a 2 inch opening in a few places to make the led lights lay flush against the bottom. I was thinking of using a dremel drill but not sure what kind to attachment to buy for it. What would be an inexpensive way to cut the wood under the cabinet?
Romex in tight spaces? I am installing some LED under cabinet light bars and to avoid having to fish through an exterior wall I was hoping I could drop the 14/2 romex down the corner of the wall between the wall and the back corner of cabinet from up top (where it drops out of the attic). The space is tight, but for the most part the romex slides down this little gap without much force - to illustrate the size for example 14/3 "might" fit down it, but 2 Romex strands would not fit. I am worried about overheating the romex with what I know about romex, insulation, pipes and conduits.
led strip-it is a good choice? Hi guys, Recently I am considering buying a LED strip under my cabinet. Does it slash the bill greatly? The supplier always boasts that led lights are energy-saving. If does so, I am going to replace the entire bulb in my new house. Have any one used before? How about the installation? Thx
Nintendo Wii Sensor Bar Help!? Ok, my original sensor bar ( the one that came with the Wii ) is broken, the wires are all spastic 'cause it got caught under a cabinet and the led lights don't show up on photos like they are supposed to. So my dad bought me a new wireless third party one (FutureTronics brand) and it seemed to work for a little while, then again stopped working, at first the cursor was flicking about and then completely stopped working, so I got another wireless one, again from a third party seller ( Power))wave ) and it did the exact same thing as the FutureTronics one. So does anybody know what is wrong or where I can buy a proper licensed Nintendo one?
How do I splice DC LED lights into house outlet? Ok. So. I bought 2 strips of led lights from walmart with the idea that I would use them to backlight my computer cabinet to match my keyboard and mouse backlighting. The lights came with a battery pack and a button so they could be tested, but they are meant to be removed and spliced into a car so that when you engage whatever you've splice them into (e.g. Headlights) they light up. So. I want to be able to plug them in to a regular house socket. They are 12v (DC) rated up to 10 amps, I've heard from a few people that I need some kind of power inverter, but I can't find anything under 80$. This was supposed to be my cheap way of making it look cool, but it's not looking that way. Anyone have any suggestions? Ok, percival. That seems to make sense. I don't believe it needs 10amps but that is what it is rated up to due to the fact that that is most likely the output you would use in a car. I think. I will go to the source and pick those things up and see what happens. I will let you know if i burn my house down.
Nitrite in Flourite Burning my Aquarium Plants? In the middle of my fishless cycling I swapped out my substrate for Flourite and added Amazon Swords, Moneywort, and Dwarf Hairgrass. Then I continued my fishless cycling, adding liquid Ammonia to the tank. A day later, my Ammonia dropped to zero. But my nitrites and nitrates were through the roof. Then my Amazon swords developed a "V" shaped brown/yellow streak at the tips, pointing down to the roots. Shorter later, whole leaves also became transparent. My moneywort leaves became limp and some melted. And my beloved dwarf hairgrass yellowed, looking like dried, dead grass. So I did a 90% water change, twice. I swapped out the filter cartridge, stopped the fertilizer, removed the CO2 yeast reactor, even stopped the fluorescent lights. But my plants continue dying by the HOUR. **Is it likely that my flourite substrate, as clay and porous substrate, still has nitrites and is burning my plants from the roots up? Or could it be that the flourite has too much fertilizer nutrients? What could possibly kill these hardy plants in a matter of hours?** **Any advice would be appreciated. I uprooted all my plants and threw them in a bucket with water until I sort this thing out. I'm not too thrilled about draining my tank and replacing the gravel again, so if you have any suggestions, I'll be grateful.** Further details if you want them: 10 gallon tank. Heater at 78oF. Aqueon® Power Filter QuietFlow 10. Ace® 18" Fluorescent Under Cabinet Fixture (15 watts, 120 volts), Aqueon Aquarium Plant Food (I know Seachem Flourish is better, I'm just cheap). No fish. The plants seem to thrive in my 2 gallon with regular gravel, fert, and LED lights. And they even survive in a 1 gallon plastic tupperware bucket with regular gravel. My 10 gallon seems to be a black hole of plant death and I can't figure out why.
My DELL INSPIRON 530 Desktop Computer Won't Turn ON ............? Hello Everyone, I have a DELL INSPIRON 530 Desktop(around 3yrs. old) .......... motherboard - Foxconn G33M02 ...... it was working fine till yesterday but after having cleaned the system for dust and all ...... I again powered the system and it just woun't start i.e. even after pressing the power button(on the front side of the system), nothing happens i mean no fans moving,no light of any kind, no nothing. Although the Green LED under the power cable connector turns green (on the back side,Just below the power cable connector) after having attached the power cable to it. For having a look inside i opened the cabinet that found that the Orange LED is light up almost on the top right corner of the motherboard but nothing happens while i press the power button ..... and thus i'm fearing that the motherboard has gone out of order ........... In order to troubleshoot the problem i jumped the Green and Black cable ports of the PSU and the fan starting moving ........ so, i'm supposing that the PSU is working fine ... I'm also wanting to know how to check the motherboard and if so the individual capacitors and resistors on it ...........and if just in case i'm unable to resolve the issue what options do i have in terms of motherboard(which is similar in technical specifications to my original motherboard), as DELL is charging me a lot more than the price of a new Motherboard ............. so,kindly suggest me a new motherboard of similar capacity i.e. no of SATA ports,IDE ports,RAM slots etc.which i can buy from a local vendor ........ My current system configuration are as follows :- Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 Foxconn G33M02 Motherboard 300 Watts PSU/SMPS SATA DVD RW+/- Bluetooth module with 13 in 1 media card reader IEEE firewire 1394 TV tuner card(internal) Intel's Onboard LAN SATA HDD 160 GB Link to the Specification page :- http://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/OM/HTML/appendix.htm#wp1052310 Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated ............ thnxx in advance ............. Link to the Specification page (as the older link is not working) : - http://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/OM/HTML/appendix.htm#wp1052310 http://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/OM/HTML /appendix.htm#wp1052310 Thnxxx a lot for your reply .............. anywhich ways the good news is that my system has started working perfectly again .........and this happened the very day i posted the question but sry to have forgotten to post it on yahoo answer the solution ....... it all happened while i removed everything off my computer except the motherboard and processor and troubleshooted the Power ON/OFF switch ..... n there i was there was a loose/faulty connection at the terminal of the ON/OFF switch connection ......... So,while i pressed the port quiet hard and powered the ON/OFF switch, the computer started and there and then my problem got solved .......... although i had previously also reseated the On/OFF switch port earlier but i don't know still may be there was some error earlier ........ but thnxxx to you as well for answering .............
Serious question about roaches? We moved to VA from NY and I had never seen a roach. My husband however noticed when on the moving truck when we got to VA (before we started to unload) This led us to believe that the 24 foot budget moving truck had some roaches on it. We set everything up and went to Charleston SC for a few days. Upon our return, we found 2 roaches about 5 hours apart from eachother (one in the sink, the other under the sink)... again, there was nothing in the sink. No food in the apartment. My husband killed both and disposed of them. That was a week ago. Since then, I have done very active searching day and night, about 5-7 times/day, sealed off all of our cabinets with caulk (and found none while removing things from the cabinets). I haven't found any even on sneek looks (2am open cupboards while lights are off and shine a flashlight up and down the walls etc). Is it possible these guys were on the truck and we caught them all? I put Borax behind the caulk just in case. thanks.
Useing less electricity, please let me know what else can cut.? We live 6 to a single family house, 3 generations. I am the daughter in law. In any room we use to ourselves I have everything on power strips, all but 2 desk lamps with dimmers are cfl, I turn off fans, power strips to tv's, and all lights as much as I can. I use my computer during the day, so it stays on, but I make sure the strip is off before I go to sleep. We had an extra microwave & dorm sized fridge in our living room, I disconnected those & put in the garage because we didn't expressly NEED them. We have 2 reptiles I have limited to 8 hours a day on incandescent bulb heat (40w) & put their under the tank heaters on a timer for the rest of the time. I just feel like I could do more, but i don;t know what is left to cut, I even got rid of our led nightlight because It wasn't 100% necessity. My Father in law is willing to embrace this style of living but my mother in law isn't. I can count 3 incandescent electric night lights she runs 24/7 in the kitchen alone with 2 led ones, these all have daylight sensors, but she has em unter the cabinet & uses for light there. One of thise incandescent bulb touch lamps runs 24/7 in another room for night light too, also a indoor fountain runs 24/7. 3 tv's not turned on all the time but not on power strips & left plugged in, mil's computer runs 24/7 along with the 50 strands if incandescent christmas lights she has running (only for 3 hours a day but still) and 3 outdoor fountains. I am guilty myself of leaving my husband's shaver plugged in 24/7 cause I can't figure out how to get a timer in the bathroom safetly. I leave one power strip truend on 24/7 that has the baby swing plugged in to it. The entiere house has 4-5 things pulgged into battery chargers like power drills 24/7. Mil/fil's side of the house also has lights on in the garage 24/7 I am stressed because I don;t think we can make out power bill this month even. I have done everything short of go back to handwashing my clothes and turning my mil psycho because I turned off *her* stuff. I just don't know what else I can cut from my side of the house with out hurting us. Suggestiions are needed & welcome, please help We go through the second tier of electricity even. There is a new meter on the house, certified electrician installed, but not someone from CPL. We even had then put that thing on our ac that cuts it off for 15 min an hour on high demend days. As it stands I can not cut anything else but laundry & heating bottles for oyr 5 month ol. I will see if fil will call cpl & see what happens there.
Why don't more people realize both of the two parties are destroying this country right now? I am not a Ron Paul lunatic who hides behind his guns, but the guy at least loves the Constitution and tells it like it is about our economy; we cannot afford to keep printing money out of nowhere, funded by loans from China. The Republicans are bad because they want to keep getting involved in disastrous wars overseas that have nothing to do with American security and which are bankrupting the US (Reagan-era Secretary of State James Baker even said the US involved in the Persian Gulf war and the current Iraq War to protect the oil reserves in the Middle East and that protecting oil with military force if necessary is part of US foreign policy. In the late 80's, Reagan looked heroic (when it looked like we were celebrating our role as an international bully) after the invasion of Grenada, when it took the Marines almost two months to defeat a band of unarmed Cuban engineers and a couple armed Grenadians. The Democrats are just as bad, or possibly even worse. They act like the party of peace and prosperity, when in the late 90's, despite intel that said bombing over Serbia would escalate the ethnic cleansing in that region, Clinton green-lighted US bombing over Serbia and we created a whole region of enemies in a short amount of time over there. These enemies are now associated with groups that are sworn to destroy this country and are now pursuing ways to kill all of us. As far as the economy goes, Clinton's actions led to the economic problems in the early part of the 2000's and today, with the housing bubble. Oh, and as far as Reagan's economics go, the only things he deregulated while president were the oil and gas industry, airlines and the actual abolition of the Civil Aeronautics Board, and trucking (that is exactly what he deregulated). Carter actual deregulated more than Reagan did, but Reagan claimed credit as the deregulation took effect when he was president, even though Carter signed the bills when he was president. The government expanded like never before under Reagan, and a new Cabinet post, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, was created. Instead of destroying the Department of Education (which has made the US school system the laughingstock of the world with the teachers' unions that protect incompetent teachers), Reagan made it stronger. And when he had the chance to destroy Social Security once and for all and put it out of its misery (one of the biggest problems we have right now and one of the worst things the government has ever put forward), Reagan just extended its life span. The Republican Party is now a group of anti-intellectual, Bible-thumping imperialists (yes, they are imperialists and Europeans from former empires believe the Republicans are modern-day versions of their former rulers), and the Democratic Party is a party full of essentially the same people, minus the Bible-thumping and anti-intellectualism. So when China takes over the world by buying everything, blame Reagan, Clinton, and the other jokes in the government who have brought the US to the sorry state it is in today. John F. Kennedy was pretty much the only great president in the 20th century, but he was killed because some people were scared of a man who wanted to actually fix this country and had the power to do so.
extreme paranoia, fear, and conscious thought processes while dreaming? I am constantly checking over my shoulder, under things, in cabinets, in closets, even places no one could possibly fit because I'm paranoid someone is there. When I take a shower, I constantly look out of the curtain and check around the bathroom, sometimes getting out to move things around to check. When I'm on my laptop, I periodically fold down the top of the laptop so I can check that it isn't blocking my view of something. When I go to the room with the trash can and washer, dryer, and hamper I have to turn on the light and look around just to throw something away or throw something in the hamper. I double check locks, sometimes (like right now) I can't sleep and I turn the lights on when I should be in the dark going to sleep. I almost constantly feel as if I'm being watched. I have night terrors and nightmares frequently; some are ones that I can't ever erase from my memory and they're exceptionally morbid, worse than any horror movie. Some of them feel real and I wake up sweating with my heart racing and find it difficult to breathe. No one ever knows when I'm talking about when I say that sometimes I have conscious thought processes as I'm dreaming simultaneously. I remember one time in particular that I somehow arrived to the conclusion that I was molested in one of my family member's bathrooms in the dark although I don't have any memory of it. I woke up and remembered the conclusion, but not the thought process that led to it. I'm just scared to go to a therapist... and this is kind of venting. Has anyone ever experienced anything that was similar to ANYTHING that I mentioned..? no drugs. and i don't consider myself disconnected from reality so i wouldn't say i'm schizophrenic.. lol, the worst crime i've ever committed is speeding.
what do you think of this story so far? Chapter one I woke up to the annoying screeching sound of my alarm clock in my ear. I leaned over to slam the clocks alarm off, and as I was doing so I knocked my glass of water over. The water spilled all over the wooden floor and the glass shattered. As I stepped out of bed, too tired to realize that I was stepping straight into the fragmentary pieces of glass scattered all over the floor. As soon as I was standing I felt the intense sharp pain of the glass piercing my foot and I immediately tried to leap off the broken glass and water strewn all over the floor and then fell flat on my face. “Alice is everything okay up there?” my dad asked, I guess he heard my colossal fall, our house is old, everything is loud. “I’m okay dad; I spilled my water, that’s all.” “Don’t forget you have to go run today.” My dad reminded me, as if I were awake at 5:30 am for no apparent reason. “I know dad, I remember.” I stumbled to my feet and walked through my room into my bathroom. I turned on the light and noticed my foot kind of sticking when I walked, when I looked down my foot had blood all over the bottom of it. I quickly turned around to see a trail of bloody foot prints leading from the crippled glass of water next to my bed. I then promptly got two towels out of the cabinet next to the shower, set one under my foot, slid to over to the crime scene, sorted the glass from the water, and soaked up the mess with my towel. I glanced up at the clock, it read 5:45, I only had 15 minutes to get ready. “Dad?” I questioned, hoping to hear a response. “Yes Alice?” he answered, good, now I don’t have to find him. “Can you help clean up the broken glass in my room?” I heard his footsteps coming close to my room; he must have been on the computer down the hall. I heard the door creek open, and I glanced up to see my dad. “Alice your foot is bleeding. Are you okay?” “Yes dad, I’m fine. Can you pick up this glass? I need to get ready for cross country, it’s almost time to go.” “Go get ready; I’ll take care of it.” My dad always cleaned up after me, I feel bad when I ask him to do things. I drifted back toward my bathroom, with the towel still under my foot. I grabbed a pair of shorts, a tee shirt, sports bra, and underwear then hauled them into the bathroom with me. I closed the door and stripped of my pajamas. I then redressed in the clothes I had brought in there and looked into the mirror. I had pale skin, long dark hair, blue eyes, and a few freckles. I was also very skinny; I guess I have a fast metabolism. I pulled my matted hair back into a messy bun, with no bother to brush it, its just going to get sweaty and tangled again anyway. I placed a yellow head band on my head to pull back my side bangs and the extra baby hairs that are always going in every direction. Then I peeled the bloody towel from my foot to see if the bleeding had stopped, it had. I hopped over to the bath tub, turned the water on, and rinsed the dried blood from the underlying side of my foot. Once I had dried my foot off I raced down the squeaky stairs with a pair of miss matched socks, threw the socks next to my running shoes, and grabbed a bagel. I looked at the clock, it read 5:55 I needed to leave that second if I wanted to get to the town square on time. I had put on my shoes, shoved the bagel in my mouth, and grabbed my purse then stepped outside, it was still dark and cool outside, it was too early to reach the boiling temperatures of Leadville, Colorado summers. I walked down the lanky path that led to my car. I have a used Volkswagen Tiguan, it was my neighbors. I stepped in and dug my key out of my bag, shoved it in the ignition, and started the car. I drove to the town square, where our cross country team meets. I made it just in time; we had just started to stretch. I sat down next to my best friend, Kaitlyn Smith. “Alice, hey!” Kaitlyn said as I sat down, and began to stretch my legs. “Hey!” I replied. We both leaned down in a pike stretch and started talking about Jared, the cute boy who ran with us. We gabbed about his hair, his calf muscles, his abs, and his eyes. “Okay, I think everybody who is coming is here. Start running the usual route, and meet up here.” Our coach told us, as we began to jog toward the street corner the book store was on. Kaitlyn and I always start running together, but I’m faster, so I always end up creeping ahead of her. Once I had just gotten passed the music store, I turned back to see if anyone worth talking to was catching up to me so we could have a conversation. But as soon as I turned my head to face forward again I smacked into some boy. I immediately looked up to see an adorable boy, thin, creamy skinned, brown haired, hazel eyed boy. “Are you okay? I’m so sorry, I really need to learn to watch where I’m going,” He said. “Its okay, I wasn’t paying much attention to where I was going either.” I assured him while wobbling to my feet. I had run straight into him, my lip hit his tooth sorry that you cant see where the paragraphs start it wouldn't let my put indention's

Activities with a flashlight (2 year old)? Okay so I bought this little 4 pack of LED flashlights at the store the other day. My son has been obsessed with them. Yesterday morning I made the whole house dark and he was looking in every drawer, cabinet and corner having a blast with the flashlight (why do I buy toys?) Well, it got old quick yesterday and now he wants to do it again today with me as his sidekick, of course. (Glad I bought them because we are under a tropical storm warning today so we are hanging out at home.) Anywho, do you have any creative ideas for play involving flash lights? lol (and keep your minds out of the gutter.) http://www.stormpulse.com/ I'm in South Florida. It's a depression now, expected to be a tropical storm by the time it gets to the keys.
Can someone please read my essay and correct any errors? Can someone please help me with my essay? 10pts? Thank you so much. . One of the most interesting people I’ve ever met is Vincent M. Spade. Vincent M. Spade is man who most people would consider mysterious because of his attire. Although he lives an ordinary life, his job as a spy makes him stand out from a typical crowd. He’s got an office in the city of Three Forks in Arizona where I visited to find out some information about him. My experience with him had led me to believe that Vincent is truly a strange person. Opening the door to his office, you find Vincent sitting behind his desk. At the top of his head sits a classic black fur felt fedora hat, tilted to the side, disguising the upper right side of his face. His dark, smooth hair peaks out from under his hat and parts in the center, revealing his sly charcoal eyes. His nose, long, with a slightly curved tip, sits above a slight grin that disappears under the hat’s shadow. He wears a long, beige trench coat buttoned all the way to the top, slightly showing the top of a white collar. On his feet are polished wing-tip shoes that compliment the feather on the side of his fedora hat. Glancing down at his desk, you find a name plate that reads “S. Spade.” An array of folders, photos, and documents cover the entire top of the desk. On the left corner, a small lamp light illuminates the dark room and casts a dim shadow over his face. Next to the lamp sits an old, black rotary dial phone surrounded by several coffee mugs. On the right side, a clear glass coffee pot filled with black coffee sits on a stack of newspapers. The wall directly behind him has a large pin-up board nailed to it that has a cluster of more photos and documents. Book shelves and open file cabinets cover the remaining sides of the walls. Despite his mysterious aura, Vincent is welcoming. He has a warm greeting and welcoming smile. Although he has an intense vibe, his has casual manner and a good sense of humor which makes him a pleasant person to be around. He’s extremely witty and clever and knows a lot about his job and the dangers involved in it. His mannerisms and his and his openness make him seem overall very friendly. The experience with Vincent led me to believe that he is a unique person. Everything from his attire to his character is what makes him stand out. The difference between his gloomy vibe and who he is as a real person is also fascinating. Vincent M. Spade is definitely someone that you don’t come across very often.
Is this essay written correctly? Please help!! 10pts? can anyone help and revise it or correct it somehow? thanks for all your help, really thanks. This is a descriptive essay, btw
Can some one look at my story? Ski Trip It is February 19th 2006. Today is the day that I am going on a field trip to a ski resort. I have never skied before in my life, It is early morning and I wake up. The sky is still dark, overhead we can see a thin line of orange kissing the dark hues of blue. The tree branches outside my window are crystallized with ice. My father, who drives a taxi, drives me to my school; Willowbrook Public School. During the ride, breathing the smell of leather in his car, my heart feels like it is attempting to push itself out of my throat. I hear a voice in my head say, Oh my god, you’re the only one who doesn’t’t know how to ski. As my father wishes me good luck and a ‘’Have fun, bachem!’’, I stretch my arm to put my backpack on. I see children outside the entrance, lights illuminate within. As I walk the cement pathway that leads to the school doors, I see people I recognize. Most of them have their own equipment, snowboards, ski shoes, carrying cases. I look at myself. I had on a pair of long johns under my jeans and my winter jacket. Nice. My stomach does a little jitterbug. I am told by my teacher, Mrs. Cappe, that since I am going to go to the beginner’s level, with the French teacher Ms. Francis, I should stick with them, and not to forget to meet under the big bell. ********************* On the Greyhound coach bus, with my backpack on top of the metal shelf, thoughts are whirling, like a hurricane approaching the calms of an island. This is going to be great, right? I still don’t know what bell Mrs. Cappe is talking about, but I hope I make it. Others were chit chattering away and gazing at the TV screens, watching a movie. My thoughts were bouncing back and forth, as I looked through the window. Snow covered hills, small evergreen trees decorating the bare whiteness were in view. I sighed. People began saying, ‘’Oh we’re here, it’s Mt. St. Louis!’ Getting off of the bus, we saw people already in their skis out-front and ready to go. We, the new arrivals, had to wait a good 30-45 minutes in line for our tags. I have to share a locker with Kristy, a student in my grade. So, I go to the front to get my boots. There are all sorts of coloured boots in the cabinets. I have my money to rent the boots with the skis. So I give them to the person on the counter who gives me my skis, after asking for my size. After putting on my boots, I needed skis. I hobble up to the counter, it felt like my legs were long pieces of wood that were about to snap if I didn’t walk like a toy soldier. The back of the shop was made of wood, and this shop was close to the doors that led to the great outdoors, the same terrain where I would acquire the skill of skiing. There were two guys behind the counter. I ask them for shoes. He just looks me up and down and goes to get skiis for me. I find this strange, how would he know my foot size? He says, ‘’Here you go.’’ , and hands them to me. Outdoors, I breathe in the crisp air outside, it hurts my nose. I wander to a girl looks friendly and ask nervously, Do you know where the Beginners Level is? She says, ‘’It’s right there‘’. She points to a group of people standing in a horizontal line. I go with my skis to join them. I feel like a lost lamb at the edge of a deep forest. The first thing we are supposed to learn is how to put on our skis. The instructor said that we should put our heel at the back so it would ‘click’ and stay put. I glanced at the others and attempted to do just that. I stuck my booted foot in the shoe. It wouldn’t fit. My cheeks turned a bright cerise. My insides felt like they were burning. I nervously get up to ask, ‘’Umm, excuse me, I can’t put them in.’’ The lady comes over and checks for me. ‘’Those skis are too small,’ she says. ‘’You’re going to have to exchange them.’’ All down the hill, (fortunately it was just a gentle curve) I had to hobble down to the rental Place. I kept on muttering to myself, ‘’What an idiot!’’ *************** Ten minutes and two shoe sizes later, I went back to see everyone learning how to stop, ‘pizza ‘’ way and turn. I tried doing that too. I took my ski poles and stabbed them into the fluffy snow. I made my way up to the top, leaving small circles behind. The instructor says, ‘’Go.’’ I try to push myself off, and I go, slowly, trying to push my weight on one side but then to save myself from a all, I cross my ski poles together and fall to the side. There’s the icy sensation of snow behind my neck. I watch the others do their turns, all of them succeeding as if the ground was their best friend. After continuing this several times, the instructor deemed me ‘okay’. After this, we go heading to the elevators to ski down the slope, a baby slope. I ask a girl in front of me what the time was, I kee EDIT---Is there anything I should cut? ---------this is a personal narrative, so yeah I find I rushed the end, a little bit...what do you think?
I put Borax behind the caulk just in case. thanks. LOL... Am I really being ridiculous? I just don't want an infestation. :)
Why don't more people realize both of the two parties are destroying this country right now? I am not a stereotypical Ron Paul lunatic who hides behind his guns, but the guy at least loves the Constitution and tells it like it is about our economy; we cannot afford to keep printing money out of nowhere, funded by loans from China. I just said I am not a conspiracy nut. I am telling the truth. I am sorry you are so deluded by what politicians say that you think that way. All the facts I presented are 100% true. Most of the people the military killed in Grenada were engineers, oil is part of our foreign policy and we can go to war even when we are not threatened directly by someone, and Reagan did all of that and more. Most Ron Paul supporters (I am one) are good people who love this country. There are some supporters of Dr. Paul who threaten people, however, and I don't agree with that. Ron Paul doesn't, either. That is what I meant.
